And other Legends of the Isle of Man.
Based on his early childhood memories and interviews with Manx people of the time: the ancient¶ÿtales of the Phynodderree, the Buggane of St Trinians, the Fairy Cup of Malew and The Great¶ÿSword Macabuin, were collected and written down by Edward Callow and first published in 1882. The existence of fairies was still held to be a certainty amongst the Manx people at this time.
Edward Callow originally wrote this book to rescue from oblivion some of the tales and legends of his own childhood. He hoped that reading them would encourage in his readers a desire to visit the Isle of Man.
