Schools

What we can do for schools :

We have been supplying schools and libraries on the Island for nearly 45 years.  There are several ways in which we can help:

School Library Scheme

With our school library scheme, which several primary schools on the Island subscribe to, every month new children’s titles are thoughtfully selected from our publishers’ catalogues and delivered to your school within days of their publication to keep your library refreshed with the latest titles.

We select around ten titles up to eight weeks before the publication date and a lot of thought is given to the balance of fiction and reference books.  In addition, to cater for individual school’s needs the deliveries can be tailored to your needs.  For example, we recently helped a school that just wanted non-fiction titles up to a certain budget.

We d0 have experience and knowledge of current trends and interests, not only for both genders but also for different levels of educational needs i.e. reluctant readers, dyslexic readers and higher level reading abilities.

Delivery is free and we can now easily deliver to any school on the Island. The average cost per box is around £69 per month and consideration is given to the price of each individual book to ensure you get value for money.  Books are provided at a discount from the published price and we can be better value, on average, than the leading online retailer!

Several Island schools have been using this scheme for some years.  Here’s what one local literacy co-ordinator said:

“The children always look forward to receiving the new books from Bridge Bookshop.  They enjoy the variety in the choices, which appeal across our age ranges.  We always receive a friendly welcome and helpful advice, whether it is ordering from school or the children popping in at the weekend.  We are proud to have Bridge Bookshop as our local contact for all our reading requirements.”

Please phone 01624 833376 or 01624 813374 if you have any questions, or email, bbs@manx.net, if you would like to join our school library scheme and you could receive a box of lovely new books at the beginning of next month.

Prize Giving

Why not use Bridge Bookshop Gift Vouchers as prizes?  We can provide vouchers in denominations of £5, £10 and £25 and they can be used in either of our shops to purchase books, a range of art materials, manx books, sheet music, vinyl records, cards and gifts.

School Requisitions

Why not take the hassle out of ordering books from a range of suppliers?  We can order any quantity of books (including educational titles) and can, in most cases, offer a significant discount off the RRP.  We provide a quick and efficient service and free delivery.  To place an order, please email mail@bridge-bookshop.com

GCSE / A’Level / Degree Art Student Discount [secondary schools]

We offer a 10% discount card to students for Art Materials.  Please let me know if you would like some cards to distribute to your Art classes.

Pop-up Bridge Bookshop

We can provide a pop-up bookshop at any event you may wish to run, with 15% of sales donated to the school in Bridge Bookshop vouchers.  For example, we have provided stalls at World Book Day for local primary and secondary schools which has resulted in free books for the school.

Overall we offer :
  • A courteous, helpful and efficient service from a long-standing Manx family-owned independent business
  • Books supplied at a discount from RRP.  On average, this can be better than online
  • Free and prompt delivery
  • We are happy to discuss new titles and make recommendations

We are happy to take orders either by by email to mail@bridge-bookshop.com or by phone, on 01624 833376.   You can also message us on Facebook at “Bridge Bookshop Isle of Man”.
