One of the earliest collections of the tales and legends unique to the Isle of Man. Collected and published in 1891 by one of the founding fathers of Manx preservation. This volume features many stories and tales gathered together by the author from the people of the Island from both English and Manx sources. A descendant of Illiam Dhone, Arthur Moore was the founder of the Manx Language Society. He was a keen collector of Manx culture, language and folklore and Speaker of the House of Keys. He sought to preserve the Manx culture.
