New Manx Book published Late Sept 2026

Short stories in Manx.
This new collection of reminiscences - Cooinaghtyn Noa - is a contribution to the Year of the Manx Language 2026 (Blein ny Gaelgey 2026) by Manx language learners and speakers (Gaelgeyryn). Over the years we have been meeting at Greens café in St. Johns in the Isle of Man to speak, read and write Manx. In the early years, we were supported by a number of excellent and dedicated teachers. Gradually, we have become self-supporting learners who enjoy a cooish over a cup of tea or coffee.
One of the books we have enjoyed reading is Cooinaghtyn my aegid as cooinaghtyn elley by Juan y Geill, a boy ‘born and reared…. across the water’ but ‘a Manxman right enough’. Juan’s book inspired us to produce this collection, based on our lives on and off-island.
